Country Property for sale in Algorfa, Alicante
Buying property in rural Spain is becoming an increasingly pooular option and more would-be investors are concentrating their search on properties in inland Spain than ever before. Algorfa, just inland of the Costa Blanca, is a typical Spanish town well worth your consideration. Algorfa has a population of around 2000 and is well equipped to meet the needs of day-to-day living, with a supermarket, shops, and many places to eat and drink. Algorfa tends to be quiet in the evenings but if you feel like going out, Torrevieja, with its wealth of night-life is only a 15 minute taxi ride away. Set in the middle of the stunning countryside of the Vega Baja valley, on the banks of the river Segura, Algorfa is surrounded by fragrant orange groves. The economy in this part of Spain is largely based on agriculture – many of Spain’s fruit and vegetables are grown here and citrus, olive and almond orchards are everywhere. There is less rainfall here than in other parts of Spain so the river is the region’s lifeblood – careful irrigation means the land is green and fertile. As a base to explore all that the Costa Blanca has to offer, Algorfa is hard to beat. Golf enthusiasts will already know that Algorfa is home to La Finca Golf Club, which has the best variety of greens on the Costa Blanca. Within twenty minutes’ drive are three other top class golf clubs: Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. The superb weather means you will be spending a lot of time outdoors and there is plenty in the region to keep you occupied. La Mata Nature reserve is close by, as is the park at La Pedrera – both places to enjoy walking, horseriding and cycling. The park has barbeque areas and is the perfect place for a picnic. For top class sporting facilities you need only venture as far as La Hoya Sports Complex in Torrevieja. And of course there are the beaches. There are four Blue Flag beaches around a 15 minute drive away at Torrevieja, two more at Guardamar – all of which have all the facilities you would expect from beaches that have the coveted Blue Flag award. Even on the Costa Blanca, however, it’s possible to find a largely deserted stretch of beach: Playa Vivers is one such place – it has no Blue Flag, simply because its facilities are very basic, but the trade-off is the peace and quiet you can enjoy there. Algorfa is a place where you can experience the very best of Spanish life – big enough to provide daily amenities, small enough to retain a sense of community. It’s easy to get to with about half an hour’s driving taking you either to El Altet airport in Alicante or San Javier airport in Murcia. If you are looking for a property for reform in inland Costa Blanca you should keep an eye on Algorfa for renovation projects. As with other areas of inland Spain, the properties available for sale in Algorfa tend to be bungalows, fincas, farmhouses and villas.
