Inland Valencia
Buying property in inland Valencia can be a way to have the best of all worlds. Buying inland, as opposed to buying a
property in one of Spain’s very popular coastal areas, means your Euros will go much further. Many inland properties
are rich in character: beautiful fincas, cortijos and villas, most with their own plot of land, for the same sort of
price that would only get you an apartment on the coast.
The Province of Valencia is one of three provinces which make up the Autonomous Community of Valencia, often known as
Pais Valencia. Spain is divided into 17 such Autonomous Communities (as well as 5 ‘Enclaves of Sovereignty’). Valencia
has been an Autonomous Community since 1982 and is a self-governing state with its own unique identity – it has its own
Parliament. The region is home to almost 5 million people, 800,000 of whom live in the City of Valencia itself.
Valencia City is the capital of the region, set on the Eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. It’s a busy port, which
handles 20% of all Spain’s exports – and is also blessed with 100 kilometres of stunning Mediterranean coastline, much
of which is designated Blue Flag beaches. Equidistant between Barcelona and Madrid, Valencia is a thriving commercial
centre and beautiful historical city, known for its Gothic architecture. Every year, between the 13th and the 19th of
March the world famous Festival of Saint Joseph – better known as ‘Las Fallas’ – is held there, when giant papier-mache
effigies are paraded through the streets and ultimately set alight. In 2007, Valencia will play host to the Americas Cup –
an event which will bring the region to the attention of even more potential visitors, worth bearing in mind if your intention
is to buy to let.
Venture inland and you will discover a magnificent landscape of limestone mountains, vast plains, orange, almond and olive
groves and pine trees. Valencia’s biggest exports are oranges and rice – and Valencian paella (with every town and village
having its own unique variation of the dish) will have your mouth watering. There are gorgeous tiny villages waiting to be
discovered, as well as large towns with their own unique appeal – whatever your property needs, you are sure to be able to
find something that meets the bill in inland Valencia. Golf lovers will find five excellent golf courses (four of which are
18-hole) in the area. Towns like Lliria and Villamarxant are thriving commercial centres – well served with supermarkets,
restaurants and everyday amenities. And when you want to get away from it all there are several beautiful nature reserves
in the area – not least Lake Albuferia where you can spend the day and never see another soul.
The region of Valencia has long been popular with Spaniards seeking a second home – in fact it has more second homes than
any other region of Spain. Inland Valencia has a lot to offer the discerning property seeker – take a look at the properties
CountryHomeEspana has to offer in the region of Valencia – you will be pleasantly surprised at just how much further your
Euros will go when you start to look at Spanish properties inland.
